HERCoN: Building Sustainable Pathways to Higher Education for Refugees Across the EU

Building Sustainable Pathways to Higher Education for Refugees Across the EU

Education transforms lives. Yet, only 5% of the world’s refugees currently access higher education, compared to 39% of non-refugees. The Share HERCoN project is dedicated to changing this reality. We are creating sustainable pathways to higher education (HE) for refugees across Belgium, France, Ireland, and Portugal.

HERCoN Objectives

  1. Build the HERCoN Community of Practice: Foster collaboration, peer learning, and sharing of best practices to develop sustainable higher education pathways for refugees across the EU.

  1. Engage Higher Education and Civil Society: Boost awareness, interest, and engagement in refugee education pathways among universities, vocational schools, students, and community groups.

  1. Empower Through Training and Capacity Building: Equip educators, students, and civil society with the skills and capacity needed to support education pathways for refugees.

  1. Promote Inclusive Policy Dialogue: Advocate for integrating refugee education pathways into mainstream education, migration, and integration policies

How You Can Help

Join the HERCoN Community Become part of a dynamic network that is reshaping access to higher education for refugees. Whether you are a university, an educator, a student, or a community organisation, your support and involvement can create new opportunities for those seeking education.

Raise Awareness Spread the word about the barriers refugees face in accessing higher education. Host events, share our resources, and start conversations in your community.

Offer Support Provide mentoring, tutoring, or administrative assistance to refugees navigating the higher education system. Your guidance can open doors to life-changing opportunities.

Advocate for Change Engage with policymakers and institutions to champion the inclusion of refugee education pathways in national and EU policies.

Together, We Can Make a Difference Join us in creating a future where every refugee has the chance to pursue their dreams through education.

For more information and to get involved, visit the SHARE Network at https://www.share-network.eu/. Together, we can build pathways to higher education that leave no one behind.
