Cecilia Amabo
Cecilia Amabo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English Common Law (BA) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law both from the University of Yaounde II Cameroon. Her Dissertation at post graduate level was centered on Equity in the Cameroon Legal System following its dual legal system. Cecilia also holds a Master’s Degree in Human Rights and Democratization (E.MA) obtained from University College Dublin (UCD). She wrote her thesis on “Children’s Rights to Education: Challenges to Female Education in Northern Ghana”. She got her inspiration from her four years’ experience as a development worker in Ghana working with vulnerable women and children. Cecilia after her degree from Cameroon traveled and worked as a Project Officer with Pan-African Organisation for Research and Protection of Violence on Women and Children in Ghana and later on as a Project Monitoring Officer with IWAD Ghana. Cecilia recently completed a certificate programme in Inter-Disciplinary Justice, Equity, Diversity and Health at the University College Cork (UCC). She is a strong human rights advocate and speaks on minority rights both from her home country and abroad. She has considerable experience in advocacy, lobbying, communications and more. Cecilia is actively involved in the City of Sanctuary movement in Cork and is presently the co-chair of the Advocacy Sub-group of the City of Sanctuary Movement.
