This page takes you through some resources to help you draft the settlement plan and to prepare for the family's arrival. Community Sponsorship Ireland have a useful Guidance Plan which can help you.
Housing
Section 1 of the form asks you to outline your plans to provide sustainable accommodation for the refugee family. One of the primary challenges your group is likely to face is finding suitable housing for the refugee family for the duration of the sponsorship period. Finding suitable housing can take time, so it is recommended that your search starts as soon as possible, ideally as soon as your initial application as a Community Sponsorship Group has been approved.
You can find out more information on housing supports available and the Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) here.
Financial supports post-arrival
Once the family arrives in Ireland they will be entitled to access social welfare benefits on the same basis as Irish citizens. Firstly, the family members will each need a PPS number and they can then apply for the Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) to help with the rental costs as well as medical cards and Jobseeker's Allowance.
Welcoming the family
Your group will need to prepare for the family's arrival. This may include finding information on the nearest halal shop or putting together information on how the heating system for the house work. It is also suggested that your group may want to put together a welcome pack in advance of the family's arrival.
