Nasc the Migrant and Refugee Rights Centre, is currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Immigration Caseworker to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional. The successful candidate will play a key role in assisting migrants through the Irish immigration system.

Main responsibilities and tasks

Provide accurate information and casework support to clients on a range of immigration matters, including visas, residency permits, citizenship, and reception rights through our helpline, in-person and outreach services.

Conduct initial assessments of clients' circumstances to determine appropriate action including signposting to other services, where appropriate.

Prepare and submit applications, appeals, and supporting documents to relevant authorities.

Manage a caseload, ensuring cases are handled efficiently and ongoing assistance and support is provided to clients.

Maintain accurate records and case notes using case management systems and databases.

Communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and external stakeholders, ensuring clients are kept informed throughout their case.

Ensure strict adherence to data protection and confidentiality policies.

Stay up-to-date with developments in Irish immigration law and policy.

Identify casework of strategic importance and liaising with the Advocacy Service Manager.

Assist in the supervision and training of interns and staff when requested.

Complete administrative tasks relevant to the operation of the Advocacy and Information Service;

Comply with any reporting requirements relevant to the role.

Represent Nasc at meetings or events as requested, and report back on these meetings.

Any other tasks as may reasonably be required from time to time in connection with this position.
Essential requirements

An undergraduate or postgraduate degree in law.

Knowledge of Irish immigration processes and relevant legislation, or a demonstrated interest in immigration law.

Prior experience (including voluntary, internship, or paid roles) in case management, legal support, or working with migrants or individuals from marginalised communities. Paid experience of 18 months or longer will be strongly advantageous.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when handling case files, documentation and tight deadlines.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in office software, including Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with case management systems.

Client-focused approach, with empathy and understanding towards individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Understanding of confidentiality and data protection requirements.
Desirable:

Experience contributing to or drafting legal research.

Fluency in additional languages.
