Maria graduated with a first class honours degree in History of Art and Architectural History from the University of Edinburgh, where she also took courses in Psychology and Social Anthropology. During her time in Edinburgh, she volunteered on behalf of local non-profits including the Real Junk Food Project and Surfers Against Sewage. She also contributed to the University of Edinburgh's Social Responsibility and Sustainability blog, and was appointed as Creative Director of the University of Edinburgh International Development Society in 2016. Maria worked as Communications Intern with Nasc from the beginning of 2018. As part of her internship, she conducted interview-based research around current Direct Provision standards, contributing to a post-conference publication produced by Nasc and UCC's Centre for Criminal Justice and Human Rights. In late 2018, Maria volunteered with Refugee InfoBus and Help Refugees for three months in Calais and Dunkirk. She is delighted to now be working with Nasc as Community Sponsorship Project Worker.
