‘A family belongs together’: Refugees’ experiences of family reunification in Ireland (2018)

This report was written by Roisin Hinds on behalf of Oxfam Ireland, Nasc and the IRC. It’s based on nine semi-structured interviews with Irish-based refugees, all of whom have experienced family separation or family reunification. The report looks at the human consequences of the change in legislation under the International Protection Act, 2015 which significantly restricted family reunification opportunities for refugees. The report contains a short analysis of the current policy context and then focuses on the voices of those affected by the legislation.
