The Minister for Justice, Helen McEntee, announced that the procedure for registrations and renewals of immigration permissions for those residing in counties Cork and Limerick is changing.

The GNIB office in Anglesea Street, Cork City is closing in August 2024. No further appointments will be issued. If you have not already received an appointment date from GNIB Anglesea Street, you will now need to arrange an appointment or renew online per the instructions below [8th July 2024].
If you already have an appointment for first time registration, you can go to the appointment.
If you already have an appointment for renewal, you can go to the appointment, or you can renew online. If you do renew online, cancel the appointment with the GNIB office.
If you don't have an appointment - even if you sent the request before the 8th July, you will need to renew online or book for an in-person appointment in Dublin for first-time registration [see below - 8th July 2024].
From 8th July 2024

First time registrations for people residing in Cork and Limerick will be done at the Burgh Quay Registration Office in Dublin. If you are registering for the first time, you must make an appointment by ringing 1800 800 630. You will need to travel to Burgh Quay Registration office in Dublin for your appointment.

Renewals of permission for people residing in Cork and Limerick will now be done online. To renew a permission, you will need to submit an application by using the Immigration Service Delivery (ISD) online renewal portal, which can be found here.
The Cork City GNIB (Anglesea Garda Station) will continue to issue appointments to those who submitted an appointment request before July 8th 2024.
If you already submitted an appointment request to Cork City GNIB but prefer to renew online, you must cancel your appointment request with Cork City GNIB.
